Archive Assistant
The Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop (RBPMW) was founded in 1947 by Robert Blackburn, one of the most prominent African American artist/ printmakers of the past century for the advancement of printmaking as a fine art medium. His workshop produced a variety of works that are housed in the RBPMW Archive. These works are in desperate need of organization for educational and historical purposes. The Archive Assistant Internship would help the RBPMW prepare this collection for public viewing both in person and on the web.
Responsibilities: Assist in the archiving of RBPMW prints including: cataloging, photographing, packing and conservation.
Skill Requirements:
Computer literate, Mac and PC
Able to handle fine art prints
Digital photography/ web skills a plus
Studio Assistant / Technician
The RBPMW is a fully functioning co-operative printmaking workspace as well as a professional printmaking workspace. The RBPMW is always in need of printmakers looking to learn while they work.
Responsibilities: Assist Master Printers in the editioning of contract/ published prints, as well as help to maintain the studios supplies, facilities, and equipment.
Skill Requirements
Computer literate, Mac and PC
Able to handle fine art prints
Proficient in one or more of the following print processes: Lithography, Etching, Relief
Program Assistant
The RBPMW is a busy workspace with a great deal of office and administrative support required. If you are interested in learning how a not for profit workspace functions from the inside this opportunity will allow for hands on education.
Responsibilities: Assist with day-to-day office administration as well as print sales, marketing, education development, and RBPMW events.
Skill Requirements
Computer literate, Mac and PC
Able to handle fine art prints
Digital photography/ web skills a plus
Office skills, filing, phones, data entry

Internship Guidelines: All Internships are for a minimum of 20 hours per week, require becoming a member of the RBPMW ($35 annual fee), and require at least a two-month commitment.
Credit hours for the internship must be arranged by the student. All paperwork for credit exchange is to be furnished at the beginning of the internship period.
All internships are unpaid.
All interns receive limited studio access outside of their internship hours.
