Cannonball Press announces the newly published Mockery print portfolio.

The long awaited MOCKERY portfolio is now up for sale!! This is a folio of relief prints we produced to honor the late great Richard Mock (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/11/arts/11mock.html), whose old press we own.

We’re donating 100% of the proceeds of this folio to Dennis McNett at Howling Print, who is documenting, sorting, and storing all of Richard’s old blocks, of which there are piles.

Artists include Bill Fick, Tom Huck, Deborah Chaney, Florence Neal, Charlie Hewitt, Martin Mazorra, Betsey Garand, Dennis McNett, Mike Houston, and Peter Gourfain.

The portfolio costs $500, and we don’t have a ton of copies. This one will go fast, so if you or anyone you know would like to collect this awesome folio, and contribute to preserving the work of a great graphic artist, please go to http://cannonballpress.com/print_mock_0.html

Mike Houston and Martin Mazorra of Cannonball Press have had their work published by RBPMW and these prints can be viewed here.

RBPMW at Southern Graphics

Council Conference

Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop attended the 2008 Southern Graphics Council Printmaking Conference in Richmond, VA. Virginia Commonwealth University hosted this year’s conference which over 1200 printmakers from all over the world flocked to. There were numerous panel discussions, print exhibitions, demonstrations all with the common theme of the conference “Command Print”. The last day concluded with an open portfolio session where everyone was able to have a table to display their work, as seen pictured above. RBPMW participated in this open portfolio and showed published prints as well as a selection of prints by workshop members to promote the printshop and Bob’s legacy. SGC is a great way to connect with old friends and make new connections in the print world. It is definitely a worth while experience that all printmakers should experience.

Next year’s SGC conference will be in Chicago, so make your plans early to attend. The website with more information can be found at http://www.colum.edu/SpecialEvents/Southern_Graphics_Council/index.php
